Overview
What it's like to intern here
Interns in Nepal work in Kathmandu, in Thamel, Lazimpat and Baneshwor. Hosts include NGOs, clinics, environmental organizations and small businesses, and many offices keep a Sunday to Friday week. Healthcare interns observe and assist; they never do licensed clinical work. NGO interns help with community programs and donor reports, and environmental science interns support field projects, data collection and awareness campaigns.
Housing and three meals a day are included in every program here. Kathmandu is busy, with temples at every corner, and the Himalayas are close enough for a weekend trek or a short flight. Dress is modest and neat, and tea with colleagues is part of the day.

Why go
Short hikes around the Kathmandu Valley, such as Nagarkot or Shivapuri, fit in a weekend, and Pokhara is the start of longer Himalayan routes.
Boudhanath, Swayambhunath and the Durbar Squares of Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur are a short ride from where you live.
Dal bhat is the daily meal and momos are the snack everyone loves, sold in small shops on almost every street.
