AIP Companion Privacy Policy
AIP Companion is operated by AIP SG PTE. LTD. (UEN 201810409G, 11 Keng Cheow Street, #04-09 Riverside Piazza, Singapore 059608) ("AIP", "we", "us"), the organisation responsible for your personal data. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and who it is shared with.
This policy covers the app only. It supplements the AIP Privacy Policy, which covers our website and the internship programme. Where this policy is silent, the AIP Privacy Policy applies.

Who can use the app
AIP Companion is invite-only. It is for students placed on an AIP programme and for AIP staff supporting them. There is no public sign-up. The app is intended for people aged 18 and over, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
What we collect
Information AIP already holds about you
Your placement record comes from our CRM, where it was created when you applied and was confirmed. The app shows you a copy of it:
- Name and email address
- Destination, cohort, and programme start and end dates
- Host company, its address, and your supervisor's name and contact details
- Your assigned Community Manager
- Nationality, date of birth, and gender
- Emergency contact: name, relationship, email and phone
We do not ask you to re-enter any of this. It is shown to you because it is about you.
Information you give us in the app
- Your display name and interests
- Photos and captions you post to Moments
- Marketplace listings you create
- Messages you post in event discussion threads and comments
- Suggestions you submit and votes you cast
- RSVPs to events
- Messages you send to the AI assistant or to your Community Manager
Information collected automatically
- Push notification token: a device identifier used only to deliver notifications. Removed when you sign out or disable notifications.
- Approximate location: only while you are using the app, and only when you tap "Near me" to sort places by distance. It is used on your device to calculate distances and is not stored or transmitted to us. You can refuse the permission and the rest of the app works normally.
- Basic technical logs needed to operate and secure the service.
We do not use advertising identifiers, we do not track you across other apps or websites, and we run no advertising or analytics SDKs.
How we use it
Equivalent bases apply under the Singapore PDPA and other applicable laws. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it to train AI models.
Who can see what
- Other students at your destination can see your name, photo, and anything you post: moments, comments, listings, suggestions, RSVPs. They can see your interests only if you switch the directory on, which is off by default and reversible.
- AIP staff supporting your destination can see your placement record, including your emergency contact, and any message you send them.
- Your emergency contact and date of birth are never shown to other students.
Who we share it with
We use these processors. Each receives only what it needs:
Where data leaves the EEA or the UK, transfers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (with the UK Addendum for UK data) included in our providers' data processing terms. The international transfers section of the AIP Privacy Policy explains the other safeguards we use. We share data with no one else, except where we are legally required to.
How long we keep it
- Your app account and posts: until you delete them, or until your app account is deleted.
- Invite codes: tied to the email address they were issued to and only usable with it. AIP can expire a code at any time.
- Push tokens: deleted when you sign out or turn notifications off.
- Your placement record: held in AIP's CRM, not in the app, and kept for the periods set out in the AIP Privacy Policy (7 years after programme end).
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to access, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how we use it. If you are in the EEA or the UK you also have the right to restrict processing and to complain to your local data protection authority. The AIP Privacy Policy lists the rights and regulators for other countries, including Singapore, the United States and Australia.

Deleting your account removes your profile, your posts, and your device tokens. Your placement record is kept in AIP's CRM as part of our contractual and accounting obligations, separately from the app.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Access is restricted to the AIP staff who support your destination. Sign-in uses an invite code matched to your email address; there is no password to be reused or leaked, and AIP can expire a code at any time.
Changes
We will update the effective date above if this policy changes, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
