Robotics internships in Asia and beyond
Code, sensors and testing with robotics teams in Asia.
Overview
What the internship is about
Robotics hosts in Asia range from factory automation firms and robot-arm makers to university spin-offs building drones, delivery robots and inspection systems. Interns usually work with the controls or test team: writing ROS nodes in Python or C++, tuning sensor setups, running test cycles on the bench and logging faults for the engineers. Everything is tested in Gazebo or MATLAB simulations before anything moves on real hardware.
A typical week mixes code reviews, two or three test sessions in the lab and a short demo of what changed. South Korea is our strongest destination for robotics, with India and Singapore close behind.
Why do it
What you'll get out of it
Work with sensors, motors and control software, and learn how a robot turns readings into decisions. You see where hardware and code meet, which is where most robot bugs hide.
Help design, build and test prototypes for uses such as warehouse picking, inspection or delivery. You learn how a team gets from a rough first version to a robot that works every time.
Help develop and tune control algorithms for automated lines and autonomous machines. You learn how small changes in a controller show up in speed, accuracy and safety.
Your role
Write and improve robot control code in Python and C++, often using ROS.
Help engineers design robot parts in CAD and wire up sensors and electronics.
Run tests, find faults and help fix them so prototypes work better.

FAQ
Your questions, answered
What will I do on a robotics internship?
You'll help a team design, build and test robots and automated machines. That can mean writing and testing code, setting up sensors and cameras, recording test results and helping fix problems on real hardware.
Do I need experience to get a robotics internship?
No. Students in mechatronics, mechanical, electrical or computer engineering are a great fit, but you don't need a finished degree. Some coding experience or a personal project helps.
What skills and tools will I use?
Common tools include Python, C++, ROS (Robot Operating System), MATLAB and CAD software such as SolidWorks. Bring a laptop that can run design software; the company provides lab equipment and safety gear.
Where can I do a robotics internship?
Popular destinations for robotics internships include South Korea, India and Singapore. Tell us where you'd like to go and we'll check what's possible.
Can I get university credit for my internship?
Yes, if your university accepts it: we provide the documents it needs (internship agreement, placement confirmation, supervisor evaluation and a host certificate of completion). Your university decides whether to give credit, and how much.
How much does it cost, and is it paid?
Programs start from $2,050 for 6 weeks on Explorer, depending on where you go. Most internships are unpaid.
In depth
- Write and test code for robot arms, sensors or automated machines.
- Set up and calibrate sensors and cameras, then check the readings.
- Run tests on real hardware, record the results and log any faults.
- Help find and fix the problem when a machine doesn't behave as planned.
- Draw or adjust parts in CAD tools such as SolidWorks.
- Write short test reports for your supervisor.
- Programming in Python and C++ for machines that move, not just screens.
- Working with ROS, MATLAB and CAD on real projects.
- Testing methods: planning a test, recording results and finding what went wrong.
- Working safely and carefully around live hardware in a lab.
- Explaining technical problems clearly to engineers.
- A clearer idea of which side suits you: software, electronics or mechanical design.
- South Korea: we place engineering and software interns, and we have our own office in Korea.
- India: software engineering and engineering are among our popular fields there.
- Singapore: software engineering is among our strongest fields.
