Data science internships in Asia and beyond
SQL, dashboards and analysis on real company data.
Overview
What the internship is about
Data interns work in fintech companies, e-commerce platforms, consultancies and the analytics teams of banks and manufacturers. You pull data with SQL, clean it in Python or R, build dashboards in Tableau or Power BI and run analyses on questions the business actually asks, such as why sales dropped in one market or which customers are likely to leave. Good teams also teach you to say how confident you are in a result.
Most weeks start with a request from another team and end with a short presentation of what you found. Singapore, Japan and South Korea are our strongest destinations for data science.
Why do it
What you'll get out of it
Process and analyze large datasets with tools like Python, SQL and cloud platforms. You learn how teams handle data at scale.
Help build models that predict, classify or group data to solve business problems. You see a machine learning project from start to finish.
Explore data to find patterns, trends and links that matter to the business. Your findings guide decisions, and you learn to explain them to people who don't work with data.
Your role
Turn business questions into data questions, analyze the results and explain what they mean. Your work supports evidence-based decisions.
Build and test statistical models for forecasting and analysis, using tools like Python or R.
Turn analysis into clear charts and dashboards in tools like Tableau, Power BI or Python. You learn to explain data to non-technical colleagues.

FAQ
Your questions, answered
What will I do on a data science internship?
You'll turn raw data into useful answers. That usually means cleaning data, writing queries, building simple models and making dashboards for the team.
Do I need experience to get a data science internship?
No. You need solid basics, not advanced theory. Some Python or R, SQL and a project you can show will make you a strong candidate.
What skills and tools will I use?
Common tools include Python or R, SQL databases, Excel and dashboard tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
Where can I do a data science internship?
Popular destinations for data science internships include Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Taiwan and Malaysia. Tell us where you'd like to go and we'll check what's possible.
Can I get university credit for my internship?
Yes, if your university accepts it: we provide the documents it needs (internship agreement, placement confirmation, supervisor evaluation and a host certificate of completion). Your university decides whether to give credit, and how much.
How much does it cost, and is it paid?
Programs start from $2,050 for 6 weeks on Explorer, depending on where you go. Most internships are unpaid.

- Write SQL queries to pull the numbers people need.
- Build dashboards in Tableau or Power BI.
- Analyze data in Python, R or Excel and spot trends.
- Build simple models, for example to forecast sales.
- Present what the data shows in short reports.
- Python or R, SQL and Excel on real company data.
- Dashboards in Tableau or Power BI that other people actually use.
- Asking the right question before you touch the data.
- Explaining results in plain words to people who don't work with data.
- Checking your own work so others can trust the numbers.
- Working in a team abroad.
- Singapore: finance and consulting are among our strongest fields.
- Japan: software engineering is among our strongest fields there, and we have our own office in Japan.
- South Korea: software engineering is among our strongest fields, and we have our own office in Korea.
- Thailand: our team is based in Bangkok.
- Taiwan: software engineering is among our strongest fields in Taipei.
- Malaysia: software engineering placements in Kuala Lumpur, where daily life costs much less than in Singapore.
