Overview
What it's like to intern here
An internship in Kazakhstan puts you in one of the fastest-changing economies in Asia, at the crossroads of China, Russia and Europe. Few international interns have worked here yet, which makes it a placement that stands out on any CV.
AIP places interns in finance and consulting, energy and natural resources, logistics and trade, technology, marketing and business development. You work on real projects with a local team, matched on your field, your goals and your dates.
Almaty and Astana
Almaty is the country's largest city and business center: green, relaxed and full of cafés, with ski slopes and alpine lakes less than an hour away. Astana, the capital, is a planned city of bold architecture, home to the Astana International Financial Centre, which works under English law, and the Astana Hub tech park.
What daily life is like
People are welcoming, and hospitality runs deep in a culture with nomadic roots. Russian and Kazakh are the languages of daily life, so a translation app helps. Cities are easy to get around with ride-hailing apps, and the cost of living is low compared with most of Asia and Europe.

Your internship
What the job teaches you
The Astana International Financial Centre works in English, and the tech scene around Astana Hub is young and international. That's where English-speaking interns fit in best.
Teams are often small and growing fast, so interns can take on real projects in their first weeks instead of watching from the side.
You can work in English, but daily life runs in Russian and Kazakh. You leave with the basics of a language few of your peers have.
