What it is like to intern here

Florence Overview

Florence is the capital of Tuscany and the birthplace of the Renaissance. Its historic center is compact and walkable, and art, architecture and craft are part of everyday life. It is also a working city with a strong tradition in fashion, leather goods and design.

The city’s size makes it easy to get around on foot or by bike. Fast trains connect Florence with Rome, Bologna and Venice, so the rest of Italy is within easy reach.

Internship Opportunities in Florence

Internship opportunities in Florence include fashion and high-end goods, art and cultural organizations, hospitality and tourism, marketing and design, and food and wine businesses. With so many international visitors and customers, work in English is common in content, guest experience, e-commerce and market research.

Many Florentine businesses are small and craft-based, so interns can see how family-run companies combine tradition with international sales. Most of our placements in Italy are in Bologna. Florence is possible depending on your field and the host companies available at the time.

Florence Attractions

Life outside work in Florence centers on art and food. Interns can visit the Uffizi and the Duomo, cross the Ponte Vecchio, walk through the Oltrarno workshops and Boboli Gardens, or share long dinners with colleagues and housemates.

Tuscany is on the doorstep. Siena, Pisa and the Chianti hills are short trips, and Cinque Terre is reachable by train for a weekend.
