Day to day

I really feel like I've gotten to learn a lot from my co-workers.

Intern

William interned at a sustainable tourism company in Bangkok that was building a self-guided platform. His job was to take informational or scholarly writing and change it “into a more journalistic, more approachable form to make it easier for people to approach important sites in Bangkok.”

He loved the working environment and his co-workers: “They’re super reliable,” and the team was good at communicating about what needed to get done. The biggest lesson was about himself: “I really love working on an international team.” Everyone shared the same aim, “but I really feel like I’ve gotten to learn a lot from my co-workers.”

He found AIP through his college career center, which recommended it “because they knew some other students that had a really good experience.” Since then AIP has been “really good about anticipating things that I’m going to need help with.”

Life in the city

“I really love Thailand.” Bangkok is “kind of in the center”, so William could explore different parts of the country, and the city itself is “super diverse, so there’s so many different things to see just in the city itself.”

Advice

What to know before you land

If you’re worried about anything, AIP has a lot of different people that you can reach out to. They’re totally willing to answer any questions, before you get here or things that come up afterwards, and they’re super responsive. So my advice would definitely be to reach out to AIP and the other people working with you at your internship. There’s plenty of people to help you.

[unclear] knew that I wanted to do an internship abroad. I really loved working on an international team, and Bangkok itself is super diverse, so it’s super easy to travel around the country.

I work for a sustainable tourism company, and we’re making a self-guided platform. So what I do is I take informational or scholarly writing and I change it into a more journalistic, more approachable form, to make it easier for people to approach important sites in Bangkok.

[unclear] I really love the working environment. I really love my co-workers that I’ve met. They’re super reliable, they’re all around my age, and we’re really good at communicating about what we need to get done, working on a team and meeting up for work [unclear].

I really love Thailand. It’s super easy to travel around the country. Bangkok is kind of in the center, so I’ve got a chance to explore different parts of the country, and Bangkok itself is super diverse, so there’s so many different things to see just in the city itself. I really loved that.

So how I found AIP: I knew that I wanted to do an internship abroad, and I went to my career center at my college, and they recommended I check out AIP, because they knew some other students that had a really good experience. And so far it’s worked out great.

I would say that I’ve learned about myself that I really love working on an international team. I think that there’s so much you get from, you know, we’re all working on the same project, so we all have the same sort of aim, but I really feel like I’ve gotten to learn a lot from my co-workers, who grew up in totally different [unclear].

I would say, if you’re worried about anything, AIP has a lot of different people that you can reach out to. They’ve been really good about anticipating things that I’m going to need help with, but they also are totally willing to answer any questions, like before you get here, or things that come up afterwards. I found that they’re super responsive. So my advice would definitely be to reach out to AIP and the other people working with you at your internship. There’s plenty of people to help you.
