Intern
Sidney was a sales intern at a young startup based in a co-working space, “which makes it really easy and convenient to contact other companies”. Because the startup is young, so is the team, and discussions sometimes happen “over a bowl of ice cream”.
On AIP: “If it weren't for AIP, I probably would not be here in Singapore.” She says AIP made her feel really safe, helped with housing and with finding her way around, and helped her work out which company best suited her and what she likes to do.

Life in the city
Singapore has been “really, really great”. Sidney loves the tourist spots, like the Botanic Gardens, and has been getting into museums: “Singapore is such a diverse and multicultural place that missing out on this piece of history would be a big mistake.”
New to the city?
What to know before you land
Always keep an open mind. Hi, my name is Sidney. I study at Cornell University, I'm majoring in International Labor and Relations, and I am a sales intern at a startup here.
You want to know about my working environment? Let me show you. We're actually based in a co-working space, which makes it really easy and convenient to contact other companies. I just have a friendly discussion with them. And since we are a relatively young startup, all of our members are really young, so we have fun discussing over a bowl of ice cream.
Singapore has actually been really, really great. I love visiting all the tourist destinations, like the Botanic Gardens, and recently I've been really getting into seeing the museums, just because Singapore is such a diverse and multicultural place that missing out on this piece of history would be a big mistake.
Right, AIP. Let me make coffee first.
So AIP has been very supportive in getting me here to Singapore and making me feel really, really safe, and it comes with [unclear], housing, helping me figure my way around, as well as helping me figure out which startup, which company, best suits me and what I like to do. So I can honestly and genuinely say that if it weren't for AIP, I probably would not be here in Singapore.
So my advice to you guys is to always keep an open mind, because when you're going abroad to a new country there are obviously going to be culture shocks, but there will always be these hidden gems in each and every country and person for you to discover. So only by keeping an open mind can you truly cherish the people you're around and make amazing memories.
