As soon as I got here they definitely made an effort to make me feel welcome and part of the group.
Intern
Shea interned at a design firm in Seoul. Her main tasks were helping the graphic designers with branding and creating logos for clients.
The office was casual, and the team made her feel at home from day one: “As soon as I got here they definitely made an effort to make me feel welcome and part of the group.” They often did things together outside work, “so they feel more like friends.”
On AIP’s side, she says the support made her “more confident and safe throughout the application process”. AIP supervised the interview between her and the company, “so I was never unsure whether it’d be legit or not,” and always replied to her emails promptly.

Life in the city
“Korea is definitely a unique culture, a blend of tradition and modernity.” Shea found it very clean and very safe: “You definitely don’t feel scared walking home alone at night, especially as a female.”
The food? “Really great, but very spicy.” Her tip is to travel outside Seoul too, for example to Busan or Jeju Island, though “Seoul’s definitely a good place to be.”
New to the city?
What to know before you land
Really immerse yourself in the culture here, and don’t be afraid to learn some Korean phrases. I think it would really help you get around the city and make better connections.

Korea is definitely a unique culture, a blend of tradition and modernity. It’s a very clean country and it’s very safe. You definitely don’t feel scared walking home alone at night, especially as a female. The food here is really great but very spicy, and I would definitely try to travel outside of Seoul, to [unclear] or Busan or Jeju Island. Seoul’s definitely a good place to be.
Great service. That’s definitely made me feel more confident and safe throughout the application process. They supervised the interview between me and my company, so I was never unsure whether it’d be legit or not, and they always promptly respond to my emails, and I always feel like they’ve got my back in case something happens.
My advice to future interns is to really immerse yourself in the culture here and don’t be afraid to learn some Korean phrases. I think it would really help you on getting around the city and making better connections.
