Intern

Megan interned at a sustainability company in Bangkok, working on the company’s expansion into the United States renewable market. Her research focused on renewable energy certificates, “to learn more about how I can help them.”

On AIP: “AIP has been super helpful from the moment I was accepted.” They found her a placement that matched her interest in environment and sustainability and made sure she had all the documents she needed to travel, in line with her academic calendar. When she arrived, she and a fellow intern were picked up from the airport and taken to their accommodation, “right next to public transportation and not far from my office.”

Life in the city

“My experience in Thailand has been so fun so far.” In Bangkok, Megan tried a bunch of new restaurants, saw beautiful temples and hung out after work with the friends she made there. She also traveled: trekking in the jungles of the north, and surfing and riding ATVs on the islands in the south.

Advice

What to know before you land

To anyone who may be thinking about doing something similar to what I did and interning abroad, I definitely recommend it. This has been one of the best experiences I’ve had in my life. I’ve made so many new friends and I’ve gotten to experience a new culture. The only bad part is I really don’t want to leave, so I guess I’ll have to come back to Bangkok.

Hello, my name is Megan, and I’m a communications student from Cornell University. I’m currently in Bangkok, Thailand, doing an internship with a sustainability company.

[unclear] Anyways, in my last two months at the company I’ve been working on their expansion to the United States renewable market, and I’ve been researching renewable energy certificates and [unclear] certificates to learn more about how I can help them.

My experience in Thailand has been so fun so far. I’ve gotten to explore Bangkok, try a bunch of new restaurants, see beautiful temples, and I love hanging out with the people who I’ve made friends with here after work. I also have explored other parts of Thailand, like the north, where I’ve gotten to go trekking in the jungles, and down south and the islands, where I’ve gotten to do fun activities like surfing, ATVing, and I played with elephants.

AIP has been super helpful from the moment I was accepted. They helped me find an internship placement that aligned with my interests of environment and sustainability. They also have been great in making sure that I had all the necessary documents I needed to travel, that aligns with my academic calendar. And when I arrived, me and my fellow intern were picked up from the airport and taken to our accommodation, which is in an amazing location, right next to public transportation and not far from my office. Also, they’re always there if I ever need help or have any questions while I’m here in Bangkok.
