Intern
As a business development intern at a financial technology startup in Singapore, Max found new sales leads, handled customer inquiries and helped build up the company’s markets across Southeast Asia.
At a startup, he says, “you learn quite quickly”, and you get to develop your own role within the company. “It’s definitely fulfilled expectations.”
On AIP: “They placed me with the internship that I was really looking for,” one that fit what he had studied at school.

Life in the city
Max found Singapore very easy to settle into. Local Singaporeans are very friendly, there’s a big expat community, and everyone mixes well: “It’s not separated, it’s very connected, which is nice.” There are also lots of weekend trips you can take from Singapore.

What to know before you land
Whether you come to Singapore or another country in Southeast Asia, make an effort to really integrate with the local population. You learn a lot more about yourself, and it also helps you professionally, to communicate easily with someone about the product you’re selling. Keep an open mind. Rather than teaching others, I think it’s important to really listen.
