What to know before you go
Software and tech in Taipei
Taiwan's tech clusters did not grow by accident; the government planned them. Hsinchu Science Park grew as the hardware and semiconductor hub, while Taipei's Nangang Software Park was set up to build software talent alongside it. Taipei also hosts Computex, a major computer and technology trade show organized by TAITRA, Taiwan's trade promotion body, and the Taipei Computer Association.
This mix matters for interns. Software teams in Taipei often sit close to hardware makers, so some host companies build software for devices as well as websites and apps. The government's Bilingual 2030 policy aims to raise English use in the workforce and attract international firms, which helps in a tech team where code, tickets and documents are often in English. Our internships in Taiwan are in Taipei, and tasks depend on the host company's product.
