Local know-how
What to know before you go
Medical and public health in Singapore
Singapore's public healthcare is organized into three integrated clusters: SingHealth, the National University Health System (NUHS) and the National Healthcare Group (NHG). The Ministry of Health created them in a 2017 reorganization. Each cluster brings together hospitals, polyclinics, community care and a medical school, and the clusters now also act as regional health managers under the national Healthier SG program.
Research is the other main strand. Biopolis, at one-north near the National University of Singapore and the National University Hospital, is a major biomedical research hub where A*STAR research institutes and companies work side by side. If you're drawn to research, labs and health data, this is where Singapore stands out. As an intern you'll observe and support, and you'll never do anything that needs a license.
