Local know-how
What to know before you go
Interior design in Singapore
Singapore is a small, dense city, and many people live in public housing flats built by the Housing & Development Board (HDB). Renovations in HDB flats follow HDB's rules, so much of the residential design here is about working smartly within those rules and with compact floor plans.
Beyond homes, interior designers work on shops, offices, cafes and hotels. Depending on your host, you might help with space plans, material boards, 3D views or supplier lists. Bring a portfolio if you have one, even a small one, and tell your career advisor which software you use. Design students, graduates and career changers are all welcome.
