Local know-how
What to know before you go
Environmental science and policy in Indonesia
Indonesia is one of the six countries of the Coral Triangle, the marine region WWF describes as the most diverse on the planet, and it also has vast forests and peatlands. Severe peat fires led the government to set up a dedicated agency to restore degraded peatland, and its work was later extended to mangroves. Peatland and mangrove restoration remain major themes across the country.
This is why many projects focus on restoration, coastal protection and community work, alongside research and reporting. Our internships in Indonesia are based in Jakarta and Bali. What you do depends on your host company, but you might help with data entry, research, short reports and workshops. Tell us on your free call with a career advisor which topic interests you most.
