Local know-how
What to know before you go
Art and fashion in Seoul
Seoul has its own fashion week, backed by the city government and held twice a year. In neighborhoods such as Seongsu-dong, brand stores, studios and pop-ups share the same streets, so new labels and launches are easy to see up close.
Dongdaemun is Seoul's long-standing fashion district, where fabric suppliers, sewing workshops, designers and wholesale shops sit close together, so a design can become a finished garment quickly. On the art side, Frieze Seoul brings an international art fair to the city each year. If you want to work on shows, shoots and launches, Seoul's calendar gives you plenty of chances to see them, whatever your start date. Depending on your host, you might help with trend research, styling, content or events.
