Auckland Overview

The county’s most populous city with more than 1.5 million inhabitants, Auckland is known for being a multicultural hub of arts, culture, food and music. The city’s unique location sprawls around twin harbors and over volcanic hills giving that perfect blend of urban adventures and natural wonders.

New Zealand’s most diverse city is also home to stunning beaches, hiking trails and captivating holiday islands, which are all within half an hour of where the majority of the population lives. Combine that with delicious food and wine, excellent shopping experiences, sunny climate and a hint of Polynesian culture and you get an idea of what Auckland is all about.

Wellington Overview

The capital city of New Zealand, Wellington is home to less than half a million people. It is actually the world’s southernmost city and it is where the government of New Zealand is situated.

The capital is surrounded by nature and the city is known for its culture, history, nature and cuisine. Wellington also has a reputation for having great museums, theaters and arts festivals. A famous example includes the Te Papa Tongarewa, known as the Museum of New Zealand. The city is a leading center for creative industries in particular film and computer technology and a fun fact is that Wellington is registered by UNESCO as a child-friendly city.

Visa information

New Zealand offers a Work Holiday Visa allowing young people from the ages of 18 to 30, or 18 to 35 for some countries to work in the country. The work holiday visa will allow you to travel and work in the country for 12 months or 23 months if you come from the United States or Canada.

You are eligible for a Work Holiday Visa if you meet the following requirements:

  • You must be a citizen of and hold a valid passport from one of the following countries: Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, United Kingdom, USA, Japan
  • Aged between 18 to 30

Note: Applying for a 23 month work holiday visa requires you to provide a General Medical Certificate

If your country is not on the list for the Work Holiday Pass, New Zealand also offers a Student and Trainee Work Visa. Students undertaking practical training can stay up to 6 months under this visa.

  • You are eligible for a Student and Trainee Work Visa if you meet the following requirements:
  • Your work experience is directly related to your studies or training
  • Your education provider supports your work experience
  • You have a written offer of work from a New Zealand employer
  • You have enough money to live on while you are in New Zealand

Click "Apply Now", fill the form and schedule an interview to discuss your dream internship.
2. Interview
During your interview, one of our AIP representatives will ask you questions about your background, past work experiences, internship preferences and goals.
3. Pay Deposit
If you are officially accepted into AIP, you will be asked to confirm your spot in our program with a deposit fee.
4. Placement
Our experienced placement team will match you with your ideal host company and arrange an online interview for you with them.
5. Final Payment
Once your internship has been accepted by yourself and the host company, you will be invoiced for the final payment which will officially confirm your placement.
6. Prepare
After your payment confirmation: For remote internships: We will put you in contact with your host company so that you can start to work right away on your internship. For all the other AIP programs: We will assist you in the visa application process, as well as arranging airport pickup and accommodation (if applicable).
AIPx might be a suitable option for those that are in a hurry. Via AIPx, we will have a confirmed interview for you within 21 working days (The normal process can take up to 8 weeks).
