Herlyn Jarder is the Lead Community Manager at Asia Internship Program (AIP) and leads the team that looks after interns on the ground across AIP destinations. In almost five years with AIP she has supported interns with everything from visa paperwork to landlord trouble. She speaks Filipino, Hiligaynon and English, plus a little Thai and Korean. On this blog she writes about what it really takes to live and work abroad, and most of her posts focus on South Korea, from preparing for an internship in Seoul and Korean traditions and food to workplace do's and don'ts and industries such as textiles, marketing, design and food and beverage. She also writes about Malaysia and Singapore, and about how to deal with homesickness abroad. You can trust her advice because it comes from first-hand work with interns on the ground, helping them with the practical problems that come up once they arrive.
