Depending on their internship requirements and the available internship positions in our partner companies, prospective interns may work in any of the following (or other) disciplines during their Business Development Internship with AIP:
Sales: the role of sales representatives in a company is simply to help customers find what they want, provide appropriate (alternative) solutions where necessary, persuade them to buy, and make the purchase experience smooth for the customer. Sales representatives also generate new sales leads for the company.
Marketing: Before the ball gets to the court of the sales representative, a marketer will have to create interest in the product or service. Marketers generate this interest in the target audience using skillfully crafted advertising and promotional campaigns.
Strategic Management: this involves the regular assessment, analysis, planning and monitoring of everything a business needs in order to achieve its goals and objectives. Strategic managers ensure an organization’s long-term success and profitability by carrying out the functions above.
Customer Relationship Management: a customer relationship manager oversees and tries to improve the interactions of a company with its potential and existing customers using relevant customer data.

All the knowledge, skills and experience you will gain during your internship in Asia will prepare you to enter the international market and set you up to excel in the fast-paced field of business development.
Businesses are always looking for ways to acquire new customers while selling additional products and services to existing ones. In fact, they cannot possibly thrive or survive without doing so.
Business development executives serve as a point of execution in the markets business’s target, and they are also a major source of vital information as regards market conditions and dynamics.
On the other hand, they use their skills to sell a business’s ideas, products and services to its target market. If a business were a vehicle, then business development personnel would be the tires.
For these reasons and more, the role of a business developer is a very crucial one in any business, and experienced business developers are always in very high demand across different industries and in most job sectors, whether its business-to-business (B2B), or business-to-customer (B2C).
Businesses, especially big ones, serve as an anchor of economic stability in every country of the world. This is because these businesses create a large number of jobs in different sectors, and these jobs, in turn, generate income for the masses who then channel it back into the system again by purchasing goods and services from businesses, thus creating a symbiotic circle that drives the economy.
However, a business cannot be an anchor of economic stability if it’s not acquiring new customers, selling more products and services to existing ones, and growing in other ways.
Since a healthy economy requires the growth and sustainability of businesses within it, the role of business development in any economy is therefore a vital one.
Business failure negatively impacts not only the owners of the business, but also the inhabitants of the locality in which the business is situated. By helping a company generate more business, business developers ensure that this company remains fit and prosperous; and when it is prosperous, the owner(s) of the company, and the community-at-large, profit.
When a community is thriving due to the presence of prosperous and sustainable businesses, its economy in general is positively impacted. Economic development simply cannot be sustained in the absence of successful business development.
